Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is microblading?

Microblading, also known as 3D brows, microstroking, featherstroking and eyebrow embroidery, is a semi-permanent, highly-specialized technique that provides a solution to the need for brow makeup or non-existent brows. Microblading originated in Asia and is well known throughout Asia and Europe. Microblading is gaining rapid popularity due to the large number of happy clients with beautiful brows around the globe.

Microblading consists of using a special microblading pen-like tool, featuring a row of fine micro-needles angled and aligned at the tip. The microblading pen is then dipped into a customized pigment color that is carefully selected to match your desired brow color, hair color and skin tone. Next your microblading artist will begin to meticulously hand draw individual, crisp, hair-like strokes mimicking the natural hair growth pattern of your existing brow hair into the upper layers of the epidermis (skin) following a pre-approved, hand-drawn brow shape. If you have little to no brow hair, no worries! We specialize in brow shaping and design, and will hand-create a natural, real-looking hair stroke pattern, just for you. You will begin enjoying your new brows the minute you walk out the door.

  • What are the benefits of microblading?

Where do we start? Microblading can completely reconstruct, transform, correct, enhance or fix any brow issues. Microblading is especially beneficial for brows that are non-existent, over-plucked, sparse, thin, uneven, have gaps, droop, need a color boost, need definition, need an arch or need added length and shape. If you are wasting time filling in your brows each morning, hoping they won't wash off at the pool or while working out, then microblading is for you!

  • Is microblading painful?

Each person is unique to what they consider painful. Most clients experience minimal discomfort due to a numbing process beforehand to the brow area. Some clients compare it to the sensation of hairs being tweezed or threaded. Please let your microblading artist know beforehand if you are extra sensitive so that we may do everything possible to ensure that you are able to relax comfortably.

  • How long does microblading last?

Microblading can last up to two years untouched. However, there is no guarantee how long it lasts as each individual's skin will respond differently. Longevity is determined by skin type, cellular turnover rate, lifestyle (excessive sun exposure), medications, aftercare and additional factors. We recommend a yearly touch-up to keep your brows looking their very best.

  • How long does the microblading procedure take?

The microblading procedure is split into two appointments. The first appointment usually takes about 2-3 hours. The majority of this time is spent on the details of how the final brows will look, including: Brow artistry, shaping, design, brow measurements, pigment color mixing and matching as well as brow placement. This process takes time and should not be rushed. Creating brows that are beautifully shaped and natural while mimicking real-looking hair is an art. The second appointment is your perfecting touch-up appointment and is included in the initial price. During this appointment any areas that did not hold pigment or any areas that need additional hair stokes added or any additional changes needed to the brows will be done at this time. The touch-up appointment is much faster than the initial appointment because the brow design process is already complete.

  • How many additional microblading touch-ups will I need?

Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors and individual preference, including skin type (extremely oily skin may require more touch-ups), cellular turnover rate, lifestyle (excessive sun exposure), medications, aftercare, etc. A yearly touch-up is recommended to keep the color, shape and overall look of your brows their very best. Lighter colors tend to fade faster, but look more natural. You may choose to have touch-ups more often to keep your brows fuller and more defined or you may prefer a softer, more natural look as your brows fade over time.

  • How do I choose a good microblading artist?

Microblading is quickly becoming an overnight beauty sensation. Unfortunately this is causing many people that have never even worked in the beauty industry, let alone worked with eyebrows before, to take a crash course and declare themselves a microblading artist. The microblading artist you choose should be licensed, certified and have experience in brow shaping and design. For sanitation, the location should be approved and inspected by the local health department.

At Truebeauty Forever we believe microblading and brows are a true form of art. We have a team of highly trained, certified and licensed estheticians with additional microblading certification and training. Our microblading artists have been in the beauty and brow industry for over 10 years. We love brows and everything about them. Each of our locations are approved by the local health department for sanitation and compliance which is necessary to obtain the proper microblading permit and license. We have countless before and after photos including healed results, testimonials and success stories of happy microblading clients with beautiful, long lasting brows.

If the price is cheap there is usually a reason. Quality work is worth spending a little more on. This is something that is semi-permanent and will be on your face for people to see every day. Make sure you do your homework and choose wisely to avoid being stuck with a brow disaster.

  • How long does it take to heal after microblading?

The initial healing period generally lasts up to 14 days, but can take 3-4 weeks to see the final results. During this time you will be given careful, detailed instructions on how to properly care for and maintain your new brows as well as what to expect during the healing process. You will need to plan ahead and know that you will be advised to avoid any activities that cause heavy sweating, direct sun exposure, and avoid getting your new brows wet for the first 7 days. This can be difficult for some clients but your new brows will be more than worth it.

  • What will my brows look like immediately after microblading?

You will be ready to show off your new brows right from the start without any down-time. Please be aware that immediately following your microblading procedure your brows may initially appear bolder, sharper, darker and seem more dramatic then what you are used to. This is perfectly normal and part of the process. During the healing period a natural oxidation process occurs as the pigment that has been implanted into the skin reacts slowly with oxygen in the air causing the pigment to darken. By the end of the healing period the shape, color and boldness will shrink, soften and fade to a more natural look. Part of the healing process also includes flaking of the pigment-stained dead skin cells in the brow area 5-10 days after microblading.

  • What should I do to prepare for microblading?

Avoid having your brows waxed, threaded or tinted at least 7 days before your appointment. Avoid any blood-thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to your appointment. This includes: Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. Avoid caffiene or alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment. You must wait at least one year after you have been on Accutane for microblading. It is highly recommended that you avoid tanning beds and excessive sun exposure (sun burn) 30 days prior to your procedure. We recommend planning any major vacations at least three weeks after microblading.

  • What should I do after the procedure?

Please review our detailed pre- and post-care instructions. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure the best results possible.

  • Will I still need to wax and tint my eyebrows after microblading?

Microblading does not cause the brow hairs to stop growing including the upper, lower, in-between and surrounding hairs of the brow area. Most clients still wax their brows above and below the microbladed areas but find they need to do so less often. This is because the waxing is simply to clean up stray hairs and small fuzzy hairs with the wax instead of trying to maintain a specific brow shape which is achieved with the microblading. Brow tinting can still be done anytime a client feels the need to darken their natural brow hair color for any reason.

  • Does microblading ruin my natural brow hairs?

Microblading will not ruin your natural brow hairs or cause them to stop growing or fall out. Your natural brow hairs and skin will remain as before the microblading process (with the exception of natural aging factors).

  • Do I need to have my brows waxed or shaved off before my microblading appointment?

Yikes! Please don't ever shave your brows. We prefer that you leave as much of your natural brow hair as possible so that we are able to see what will blend best with your new brow design. We may remove some of the excess hair (by tweezing or razoring) after we have determined what your final brow shape will be. The exception would be if you have brow hair in areas that you know will not be part of your final brow shape such as above or below your brow area or in between your brows. Waxing should be done at least 7 days prior to your microblading procedure.

  • How do I choose the right brow shape and color?

Relax and leave the worrying to us. We are experts at brow shaping and design. At the beginning of your appointment you will undergo a thorough brow consultation, brow measurements, face shape analysis and color matching to make sure your new brows are customized and hand drawn just for you. You will give your input and final approval before proceeding. Of course, if you know exactly what you want your brows to look like, we will do our best to make it happen.

  • What happens after the microblading has faded away?

Microblading is semi-permanent and fades over time. Your skin continually sloughs away dead skin cells causing the microbladed hair strokes to move closer to the surface of your skin where they eventually fade away. Your natural brow hairs and skin will be left as before the microblading procedure (with the exception of natural aging factors). You can choose to get a color boost touch-up or add additional microblading details to your brows at any time or let your brows return to their natural state as before.

  • Can microblading be performed over old permanent make-up?

We have done many successful microblading procedures over old permanent make-up. However, there are several factors that determine a successful outcome. Please contact us to discuss whether you would be a good candidate.

  • How is microblading different than standard body tatooing?

Microblading is less painful and much more natural and subtle looking than a traditional body tattoo. While a traditional tattoo is solid color that is deposited deeper into the skin layers, microblading is very fine, individual hair strokes that are deposited into the upper layers of the skin. A tattoo is permanent and microblading is semi-permanent and will fade over time, giving you the choice to allow your skin and brows to return to their natural state as before (with the exception of natural aging factors). Microblading follows your natural hair growth pattern and any brow hairs that you do have are left to mix naturally with the microbladed real-looking hair strokes created by hand with a specialized pen and pigment where traditional tattoos use ink and electric tools.

  • Does microblading look natural?

Yes! We strive for natural, real-looking hair strokes and brows that pass as your own. It's our goal. Lighter colors tend to look more natural but will have a tendency to fade faster and need additional touch-ups. Darker, bolder brows and heavier application will last longer but can look less natural.

  • Do I need to shape my brows with make-up before my microblading appointment?

We prefer that you arrive for your appointment with your brows as you would normally have them each day when you do your make-up, or bring a photo of yourself where your brows are shaped and drawn in how you prefer. This will help us to determine a starting point for the type of look you feel comfortable with. We will then begin the brow design process including a thorough brow consultation, brow measurements, face shape analysis and color matching to make sure your new brows are customized and hand drawn just for you. You will give your input and final approval before proceeding. If you have no idea how to fill in your brows, relax and let us put our expert brow skills to work for you.

  • Who may not be a candidate for microblading?

You must be at least 18 years old for microblading. If you are under a physicians care, or suffering from a serious illness or suffering from diabetes, epilepsy, cancer, autoimmune disease, pacemakers, major heart conditions, organ transplants, viral infections, skin irritations or psoriasis near the brow area, or if you have taken Accutane within the last year or are pregnant, nursing or taking medications for blood thinning (coagulants), you may not be a good candidate. If you have extremely oily skin this might cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look, resulting in a more powdered look instead of a crisp hair stroke appearance.

If you're unsure whether you're a good candidate, please call and we will be happy to go over any contraindications and options in detail with you.
